Indie Power Pop: The Belair Lip Bombs at The EARL.

Energetic riffs and sharp, clever lyrics have quickly pushed Melbourne’s The Belair Lip Bombs from buzz band to must see, and their first US headlining tour shows exactly why.  Now headlining their first U.S. tour, The EARL was packed with fans who knew the bands’ lyrics, their friends and plenty of curious newcomers drawn by the band’s growing critical acclaim.

With two albums to draw from, the setlist leaned heavily on their 2025 release, Again, and rightly so.  The band has subtly refined their formula, but the catchy hooks remain, propelling each song forward as lead singer Maisie Everett guides listeners through the whole love/hate/happy/sad rollercoaster of emotions in developing and maintaining relationships.

Live, they sound practiced and confident.  Guitarist Mike Badvica’s soaring guitar riff from their hit single “Hey You” was a standout as well as “Back of My Hand” which highlights Everett’s vocal ability.  Hearing them live reinforces that the band has all the right pieces in place for hopefully many albums to come. Hopefully as the band tours, they’ll brave more engagement with the audience, but fans will be pleased to find that they make themselves readily available to chat after the show.

Many thanks to Photographer Joe Chiarella for sharing his camera body due to “technical difficulties” with my own.
