Center Stage / Vinyl / The Loft

Venue:

Center Stage, capacity 1050, is conveniently located adjacent to I-75/I-85.  The complex includes two smaller venues, The Loft (650) and Vinyl (300).

The venue is aging, which is worrisome as newer venues continue to open or remodel in the downtown area.  Why?  Because Center Stage has fantastic seats.  Fantastic.  Tiered seating… clear views everywhere!  Well, except for Sections A and G, where views along the edges are likely to be limited to performers standing only at the very front of the stage.  Otherwise, grab a ticket wherever and don’t worry about it.  Even the back row seats are just fine…

Sound quality is really good, and the lighting depends on the show, but I’ve never found it to be less than good.  The only sore spot, literally, is the upholstered seats, which due to their age suggest padding but fail to deliver.

Vinyl presents as more of a bar.  Standing room only in front of the stage, with a bar and a handful of tables to the rear.

The Loft is larger than Vinyl with no seating that I recall.

Sound quality for both of these depends on the act and the style of music.

Parking:

Most attending can park in the deck located underneath the venue, accessed near the front entrance.  Parking is generally $10-$20.  There is no street parking or nearby public parking, so rideshare may be a better option.

Dining

There’s really only one option within a short walk, the excellent Nan Thai.  This is a really good restaurant but may exceed the budget for many.  Should you go, they don’t (appear to) mind T-shirt wearing concert goers.   You’d be well advised to make a reservation.

There is a AAA parking lot adjacent to Nan Thai.  Do not park there or let the valet at Nan Thai park there.  The gate is not operable after hours and the valet service will likely be gone.  For an extra charge, they may “valet” your car in the few spaces in front of the restaurant and let you keep your keys.

Other restaurants in the general area include Cypress St. Pint and Plate and a wider variety at Atlantic Station.

Beverages within Center Stage are not exorbitant, but not cheap either.  That’s the way it goes.
