Buckhead Theatre
3110 Roswell Rd NE, Atlanta
Buckhead Theatre was built in 1930 as a movie theatre. It operated as the Coca-Cola Roxy for the 1990s and most of the 2000s before being remodeled and reopened as the Buckhead Theatre.
Venue:
Capacity is ~1,800, with a gently sloped floor in front of the stage which may be standing room General Admission or provided with temporary seats. Fixed seating occupies roughly the rear half, as well as a balcony.
There are no obstructed views and the incline helps somewhat to peer over the backs, shoulders or heads of those in front. There’s not a bad spot for seated shows, but standing, as always, is better the closer you can manage.
The space, reopened in 2010, feels new and modern, with suitable lighting and sound system, whether acoustic or fully amplified. Two full service bars are available, helping keep lines short.
Parking:
The venue provides no parking, but paid surface parking is available around the facility in several directions, on the street, in lots or in garages. Plan for searching for a preferred site in advance as traffic can get congested and turning around can be frustrating.
Dining:
In the same vicinity as the parking, The Iberian Pig (tapas), Sauce Buckhead (Italian), Fire Hen (Rotisserie Chicken), Woody’s Cheesesteaks, Velvet Taco and King+Duke (finer dining) and Chai Yo Thai may appeal. For those that enjoy the full dinner experience, The Capital Grille is within an easy walk as well.
For those wanting a casual bar, Five Paces Inn, a self-proclaimed dive bar, is one of the few long term residents in the area, Red Door Tavern is another longer standing dive bar but with food, and the more polished Fado Irish Pub is another option.
